Devil's claw - this unique type of
rods was made out of the need to satisfy the expectations of
the musicians who are looking for the sound of drums and cymbals
between the hitting of wooden stick and the rod being the bundle of
several thin rods. Devil's claw fills the gap existing in dynamics
and color. Especially while playing on cymbals like RIDE or
HI HAT , when it is the priority to obtain the best possible
timbre, this rod is unique and the best. It has nothing in
common with other products, even looking similar. In the hands of
skilled and imaginative musician it can help to create quite new
values.
The Devil's claw consists of
10 rods of hardened bamboo - 4mm thick each. They are
put together into a shape of equilateral triangle. These rods
are stuck together with their milled sides and embedded
in suitably profiled PVC handle. In the moment of
hitting the cymbal or the drumhead ,they are stimulated by 10 stiff
rods within 10 cm simultaneously. Especially on RIDE or
HI HAT cymbal we do not obtain expected blur but the
immediate answer of the unique purity. The RIDE cymbal sounds with
its best timbre, with the middle and without the low murmur even
while fast walking.
The technical and sound
possibilities of this rod are still not entirely defined. It can
also be used when playing other percussive instruments, e.g.
Timbales, Congas, Bongos, Djembe, Cajon. With the Devil's claw you
can hit with all the rods simultaneously as well as, after a
rotation in the hand, you can use the hitting with one or with the
couple of rods. This way we obtain various types of sounding and
the diversed dynamics. Giving away the Devil's claw to
its first users I count on them sharing their impressions and
comments with others, who look for their own, unique sound of their
drumset.
